Ocean Serpents are deep sea creatures that can dive for hours under the water before needing to surface for air. These massive snake like dragons will hunt anything they can coil their bodies around, crushing their targets with their powerful scaled bodies. They are a territorial breed and will fight and chase other predators out of their hunting grounds, and have gained notoriety for ship sinking due to their aggressive nature. However, these serpents are smart enough to know when they are outmatched and will stay quiet and leave, rather than fight a battle they cannot guarantee they can win. Ocean serpents will breed all year round, laying eggs in the pelagic zone of the ocean, where the light weight eggs will be carried by the currents in shore to hatch. If the eggs wash ashore, the hatchlings will instantly slither their way to the water. Young serpents are too small to fight off predators, and will stay in coastal water where they can hunt smaller fish and seek refuge in rock formations. As they mature, they grow steadily more aggressive, and it is not suggested to approach a hatchling with spines, as they are at the peak of their aggressive behavior. The larger they grow, the further out to sea they will swim.
